Morocco Installs Advanced Bidirectional Radars to Curb Road Accidents

The National Road Safety Agency (NARSA) is deploying additional means to achieve the national objective of reducing road accidents.

From June 16, bidirectional radars will come into service. These new devices are capable of simultaneously monitoring both directions of traffic. They can detect vehicle infractions in real-time, whether vehicles are approaching or moving away from the radar. These intelligent fixed radars aim to control speed, as speeding is the main cause of fatal accidents.

This measure responds to an imperative of fairness, explain the officials of the National Road Safety Agency (NARSA). If some drivers continue to escape controls depending on their direction of travel, creating an inequality of treatment, the new system will now ensure uniform monitoring for all road users.

For NARSA, drivers are obligated to respect speed limits and the Highway Code.
