Morocco Braces for Record-Breaking Heat Wave with Temperatures Nearing 50°C

Extreme heat is expected from Thursday to Saturday in several provinces of Morocco. "Absolute records" of temperatures this weekend during an exceptional heat wave, with the mercury approaching 50 degrees and exceeding the monthly normal by 5 to 12 degrees in places.
This scorching forecast announced by the Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) in a bulletin, began on Wednesday, in the interior of Souss, while temperatures ranging from 42°C to 45°C will concern, on Thursday, Assa Zag, Beni Mellal, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Es-Smara, Fquih Ben Saleh, Guelmim, Khenifra, Kourobga, Marrakech, Rehamna, Settat, Sidi Ifni, Taroudant, Tata and Zagora. The alert is at the orange vigilance level.
From Friday to Saturday, temperatures will fluctuate between 44 and 48°C in the provinces of Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanan, Assa-Zag, Chtouka Ait-Baha, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Es-Smara, Fquih Ben Saleh, Guelmim, Inzegane-Ait Melloul, Khenifra, Khouribga, Marrakech, Rehamna, Settat, Sidi Ifni, Taroudant, Tata, Tiznit and Zagora.
