Morocco Braces for Extreme Heat Wave as Temperatures Near 50°C (122°F)

Several provinces of Morocco will experience a new heat wave on Monday and Tuesday, with temperatures that could approach 50°C, warns the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM).
Temperatures will vary between 45 and 49°C this Monday, August 16, the DGM specifies in a special weather bulletin with a red alert level. This heat wave will affect the provinces of Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, Boujdour, Chtouka Ait Baha, Es-Semara, Guelmim, Inezegane-Ait Melloul, Laâyoune, Oued Ed-Dahab. The same heat wave is expected tomorrow Tuesday in the provinces of Boujdour, Es-Semara, Laayoune, Oued Ed-Dahab, Tan-Tan, Tarfaya and Taroudant.
In an orange alert warning, the DGM forecasts temperatures ranging from 42 to 45°C this Monday in the provinces of Al Haouz, Aousserd, Assa-Zag, Chichaoua, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Essaouira, Fahs-Anjra, Guercif, Khemisset, Khouribga, Larache, M’diq-Fnideq, Marrakech, Meknès, Fès, Moulay Yacoub, Ouezzane, Rehmna, Settat, Sidi Ifni, Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, Taounate, Taourirt, Tata, Taza, Tetouan, Tiznit, Youssoufia and Zagora.
The same phenomenon will occur on Tuesday in the provinces of Aousserd, Assa-Zag, Tata, Guelmim, Inezegane-Ait Melloul, Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, Chtouka-Ait Baha, Essaouira and Tiznit.
