Morocco Braces for Extreme Heat Wave with Temperatures Soaring to 47°C (116°F)

The Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) forecasts a heat wave (40/47°C) from this Monday, July 25th until Tuesday in several Moroccan regions.
Temperatures between 44°C and 47°C are expected this Monday in the provinces of Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, Rehamna, Marrakech, Youssoufia, Chichaoua, Taroudant, Assa-Zag and Es-Semara, according to the DGM in an orange alert bulletin. Similarly, temperatures between 40°C and 44°C are expected in the provinces of Larache, Ouezzane, Taourirt, Guercif, Oujda-Angad, Fès, Taounate, Moulay Yacoub, Taza, El Hajeb, Meknès, Khemisset, Kénitra, Béni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, Khouribga, Khénifra, Settat, Berrechid, Benslimane, Sidi Bennour, El Kelâa des Sraghna, Zagora, Errachidia and Tata.
The same phenomenon will occur this Monday inland in the provinces of Salé, Skhirat-Témara, El Jadida, Essaouira, Safi, Tanger-Assilah, Fahs-Anjra, Nador, Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, Tiznit, Inezgane-Ait Melloul, Chtouka-AIt Baha, Tan-Tan, Guelmim, Boujdour, Aousserd, Oued Ed-Dahab, Sidi Ifni, Tarfaya and Laâyoune.
The DGM also announces that temperatures will vary between 40°C and 45°C, tomorrow, Tuesday, July 26, 2022, in Ouezzane, Guercif, Meknès, Taounate, Fès, Moulay Yacoub, Khemisset, Sidi Kacem, Khouribga, Béni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, Sidi Bennour, Settat, Youssoufia, Chichaoua, El Kelaâ des Sraghna, Marrakech, Rehamna, Errachidia, Zagora, Tata, Taroudant, Assa-zag, Es-Semara, and inland in the provinces of Essaouira, Safi, Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, Tiznit, Inezgane-Ait Melloul, Chtouka-AIt Baha, Tan-Tan, Guelmim, Boujdour, Aousserd, Oued Ed-Dahab, Sidi Ifni, Tarfaya and Laâyoune.
