Morocco Braces for Extreme Heat Wave as Temperatures Soar to 48°C (118°F)

Several Moroccan provinces like Marrakech, Meknes will experience a heat wave from Thursday, July 29 to Saturday, July 31, 2021, warns the General Directorate of Meteorology (DMN).
Morocco will experience a new heat wave this week. Temperatures will fluctuate between 45°C and 48°C on Thursday and Friday, the DMN specifies in a special weather bulletin with an orange alert level. This heat wave will affect the provinces of Assa Zag, Beni Mellal, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Es-Smara, Fquih Ben Saleh, Marrakech, Rehamna, Taroudant, Tata and Zagora, the DGM states in a weather alert bulletin, reporting an orange alert level.

During the same period, temperatures will vary between 42°C and 45°C in the provinces of Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanan, Boulemane, Chtouka Ait-Baha, El Hajeb, Errachidia, Essaouira, Fez, Guelmim, Guercif, Inzegane-Ait Melloul, Khemisset, Khenifra, Khouribga, Meknes, Moulay Yacoub, Ouezzane, Oujda-Angad, Sefrou, Settat, Sidi Ifni, Sidi Kacem, Taounate, Taourirt, Taza and Tiznit, the same source also specifies.
On Saturday, the provinces of Assa Zag, Beni Mellal, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Es-Smara, Essaouira, Fquih Ben Saleh, Guelmim, Guercif, Khenifra, Khouribga, Marrakech, Oujda-Angad, Rehamna, Settat, Sidi Ifni, Taroudant, Tata, Taza, Tiznit and Zagora will experience temperatures ranging from 42°C to 45°C.
