Morocco Advances to World Cup Round of 16, Matching 1986 Success

Historic qualification of Morocco for the round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. For Walid Regragui, it is a well-deserved victory.
The Moroccan national football team beat their Canadian counterparts 2-1. The coach said he was happy with this victory after a tiring match, especially in the second half. "We suffered from fatigue, injuries but the team spirit was there... We wanted to make history."
With this victory, Walid Regragui and his protégés are reminiscent of the 1986 feat. The coach says he is happy to have been able to reach the second round with two wins and a draw. "Finishing with 7 points, no African team has done it. We are happy for the Moroccan people who needed it," he said.
