Morocco Coach Walid Regragui’s Father Shares Pride in Son’s World Cup Success

Morocco’s breakthrough in Qatar is bringing joy to Moroccan supporters, but also to the close relatives of the Moroccan delegation. This is the case of the father of the national team coach, proud of the work accomplished by his son since his appointment at the head of the national team.
In an interview with the Al Omk website, Mohamed Regragui is not surprised by his son’s journey. He confides that he has not missed a single moment of the latter’s career and is happy with everything he has accomplished as a footballer and recently as coach of the Atlas Lions.
Young Walid was spotted by Henri Michel, the former coach of the Moroccan national football team, during a match with Toulouse. He was called up for the Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia in 2004. He will shine in Moroccan football before retiring.
Passionate about football, he decided to follow a training course to become a technical supervisor. He trained in France and was able to lead two clubs before being called upon to lead the national team after the dismissal of Vahid Halilhodzic. In a short period of time, the coach has achieved great things. For Mohamed Regragui, Morocco’s performance against Croatia, and their resounding victory over Belgium in Qatar, are a source of pride. He assures that Morocco will qualify for the second round of the World Cup. "Walid Regragui is convinced of this."
