Morocco’s Walid Regragui Makes History as First Arab Coach to Reach World Cup Round of 16

By leading the Atlas Lions to the second round of the World Cup, Walid Regragui has definitively entered the history of football, not only in Morocco, but also in the Arab world.
The national coach Walid Regragui became on December 1st the first Arab coach to lead his team to the round of 16 of a World Cup, recalls the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA).
In a few weeks, he has managed to establish cohesion within the group and restore confidence in the players with whom he claims to have a good relationship. He also decided to promote young players. The result is a strong team that has become the leader of Group F, ahead of great football nations like Belgium, Croatia and Canada, according to the FIFA website.
Morocco will face Spain on Tuesday at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan, in the round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The Atlas Lions can still create a surprise as they did against Belgium and Canada.
