Morocco Advances Plans for High-Speed Rail Link Between Rabat and Fez

The processes for the realization of the TGV network connecting Rabat and Fez are on the right track according to the Ministry of Transport, which announced the upcoming launch of a detailed study on the financing of the project.
Questioned in parliament on the ministry’s vision around the TGV, Minister Mohammed Abdeljalil stressed that the preliminary studies are completed concerning the Rabat-Meknès line via Khémisset.
These initial examinations have in particular concerned the market study, the environmental and social impact of the project and a detailed and in-depth study of forecasts of passenger and freight mobility and travel as well as the return on investment for this colossal project, he specified.
The next step in the process is to soon launch a detailed study on the realization of the project and the financing structure, he announced. "This project will require significant financing that will have to mobilize all the actors and partners in order to find practical, effective and innovative financing schemes," noted the minister.
