Morocco Advances Plans for Major Marrakech-Fès Highway Project

The execution of the Marrakech-Fès highway project is on the right track. The preliminary studies and the financial structuring are ongoing. They will be finalized in 2023, according to the Minister of Equipment and Water.
Questioned in parliament on the progress of road projects in Morocco, Nizar Baraka provided an update, including on the Marrakech-Fès highway. In this regard, the minister specified that the studies related to this route, which passes through Béni Mellal and Khénifra, will be finalized by next year.
He added that the ministry is currently working on its financing, noting that two options are being considered: either a public-private partnership or recourse to international financing.
Several other construction sites were also mentioned during this intervention. These include the 31 km Casablanca-Berrechid highway, the (Nador-Guercif) highway and a new Casablanca-Settat highway that will be launched soon.
