Rabat-Salé Tramway Network Expansion: Tenders Open for New Lines and Studies

The development project of the Rabat-Salé-Témara agglomeration tramway network continues. A call for tenders has been launched to carry out additional studies related to phase 3. The opening of the bids is scheduled for September 6.
The contract launched by the Rabat-Salé tramway company (STRS) concerns the preliminary design studies for lines 4 and 6, as well as a roadmap for the following phases, at a cost of 7.8 million dirhams, reports Le360.
This involves the preliminary studies relating to the new lines or line extensions for the north of the city of Salé. The selected firm will define the subsequent phases of the tramway project to carry out the remaining lines and line sections of the master plan.
It will be a question of prioritizing the realization of these lines and line sections according to criteria of opportunity, economic profitability of the sections, state of progress of the studies, reduction of disturbance to the urban landscape, programming of related projects, and financing. A roadmap will thus be established. It will list the remaining phases and provide for each phase the consistency to be realized, the time schedule and the estimated cost.
Ultimately, line number 3 will make it possible to reach the city of Témara, passing through the urban center of Hay Riad in Rabat. The L1-L2 connection branch in Rabat will ensure the service of the Agdal high-speed train station. Line 4 will connect the commune of El Youssoufia to Rabat. As for line 6, it will provide access to the future urban area of Al Boustane, which will be opened in Rabat, notes the same source.
