Moroccan Port Tanger Med Ranks Among World’s Top 3 Most Efficient Container Ports

Another good news for the Tanger Med port complex, which once again stands out for its performance. The Moroccan port ranks in the Top 3 of the most efficient container ports in the world, according to an American study.
In this analysis published this week, Priceonomics examined three criteria to measure the efficiency of 44 of the world’s largest ports in 2021. These are the waiting time (time a ship waits to reach the port); time spent in port (the time a ship remains in port while cargo is loaded and unloaded); and total time (the combined waiting and port time, calculated in days).
Thus, the port of Tanger Med is the second fastest in the world with a waiting time of only 0.2 days, behind the Chinese port of Shenzhen (0.0 days). The Moroccan port outperforms several major ports in this category, which is topped by the port of Los Angeles with a waiting time of 5.9 days.
The study also states that in terms of port time, the Moroccan port ranks 5th with a value of 0.7 days for loading or unloading goods, just ahead of the ports of Hong Kong and Colon in Panama. As for total time, it occupies the 3rd global position, with a score of 0.8, which means that it takes less than a day for a ship to access the port and unload its cargo.
