Tanger Med Port Climbs to 4th in Global Efficiency Ranking

Tanger Med is improving its position in the ranking carried out each year by the World Bank and S&P Global. It is now among the five most efficient container ports in the world.
According to the latest edition of the Global Container Port Performance Index (CPPI), Tanger Med ranks fourth in the ranking compiled annually by the World Bank and S&P Global, thus gaining two places compared to the 2021 edition, where it ranked sixth. The Moroccan port owes this position to the increase in productivity of the container terminals for the reception and handling of mega-ships. In 2022, the record bar of 700,000 TEU containers handled per month was exceeded at Tanger Med.
The ports of Yangshan in China (1st) top the ranking of the most efficient container ports in the world. They are followed by the ports of Salalah (Oman) and Khalifa (Abu Dhabi). Tanjung Pelepas and Cartagena (Colombia) complete the top 5. Tanger also outperforms Port Said (10th, and second most efficient African port), the ports of Algeciras (13th, second in the Mediterranean), Singapore (18th), Hong Kong (11th), or Yokohama in Japan (17th).
