Marrakech Hosts Inaugural Street Food Festival at Iconic Jemaa El Fna Square

Tuesday 13 August 2019, by Sylvanus

The "Arts and Culture" Foundation is organizing the first Street Food Festival at the "Jemaa El Fna" Square from November 9 to 10, 2019, enriched with capacity building sessions.

A first in Morocco. Street food lovers will take part in the first Street Food Festival on November 9 and 10, 2019, at the "Jemaa El Fna" Square, which will be punctuated by 3 unprecedented culinary master classes.

On behalf of the "Arts and Culture" Foundation, its initiator explains the objective behind the organization of such an event. "The Marrakech Street Food Festival aims to create a real global culinary movement through the sharing of knowledge and culinary techniques between several chefs from different disciplines and different countries, including French, Italian and Moroccan chefs living abroad," she said.

For the organizers, the "Master Class" event promises pure innovation, while favoring the essential know-how.

At this great culinary event, Moroccan gastronomy, which, with its richness as simple as complex, is now a global trend in the "Fooding" movement, will be highlighted.

The Marrakech Street Food Festival is also an opportunity to put fusion cuisine into practice. "Cultural diversity helping, cuisines will soon be mixed as well. Combining ingredients that one would not think of combining at first glance, gives rise to experiments that are both interesting and creative. But in reality, fusion cuisine has very old foundations that are far from these modern experiments," the same source said.

Performances and delicious tastings will punctuate the two-day Festival.
