Marrakech Gendarmes Arrest Restaurant Owners for Illegal Nightclub Operations During Curfew

The gendarmes of Bab Doukkala in Marrakech arrested several people for violating the state of health emergency. Among them, three managers who had transformed their restaurants into nightclubs.
Their arrest took place on June 9 during a control campaign. The gendarmes of Bab Doukkala in Marrakech were behind the operation. Three managers who had transformed their restaurants into nightclubs were caught in the act of serving alcoholic beverages several hours after the legal closing time set by the government during this period of night curfew, reports Assabah. The gendarmes also arrested several customers. They were all taken to the gendarmerie headquarters.
The three restaurant managers are being prosecuted for not closing the premises at the time set by the authorities, rebellion against the night curfew and failure to impose health rules on customers. On Thursday, they were brought before the public prosecutor’s office under arrest. As for the customers, they were released the same day. They are being prosecuted for non-compliance with preventive measures against the coronavirus and violation of the night curfew. Some were fined, while others were summoned to appear the next day before the public prosecutor’s office.
