Marrakech Authorities Shut Down 56 Restaurants for Health Violations

In Marrakech, the security services, in coordination with the local authorities, proceeded to close dozens of restaurants, including one belonging to a Frenchman. Large quantities of expired or unfit alcoholic beverages were also seized.
In total, 56 restaurants were temporarily or permanently closed for multiple violations of the preventive measures provided for by the state of health emergency, reports Al Massae. These restaurants belong to Moroccans and foreigners. The public prosecutor’s office has subjected them to preliminary investigations ordered in accordance with the law.
The French restaurant located near the historic Post Office building in Gueliz and the nightclubs transformed into bars are among the establishments that have been sanctioned. Dissatisfied, the owners and managers are using all means to have these closure decisions overturned.
