"Foreign Minister Yair Lapid handed his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita, a letter from the Israeli head of state, Isaac Herzog, addressed to His Majesty King Mohammed VI," the Israeli Foreign Ministry said in a tweet on its official account. For the Israeli president, it would be a pleasure to meet the sovereign "in the near future." "We all hope that we will expand cooperation in the years to come for the benefit of the two peoples. Please convey my greetings to the royal family and to the entire Moroccan people," he added.
After the normalization of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Israel under the impetus of the United States in December 2020, the two parties are working to strengthen their ties. Yair Lapid, the head of diplomacy, was on a two-day working visit to Morocco on August 11 and 12, where he inaugurated the Israeli diplomatic mission in Rabat. The two countries also signed three new agreements aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in the political, cultural, youth and sports, and air services fields.
