Morocco and Israel Sign Aviation, Culture, and Sports Agreements, Bolstering Diplomatic Ties

Morocco and Israel are working to strengthen their diplomatic relations. The two parties have signed agreements in the field of aviation, sports and culture.

"The [government] council will be devoted to the examination of two cooperation agreements between the government of the Kingdom of Morocco and the government of the State of Israel, signed on August 11, 2021 in Rabat, the first concerning air services with a draft law approving this agreement while the second provides for cooperation in the fields of culture and sport," indicates the new executive in a press release relayed by MAP. These two agreements had been signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Nasser Bourita and his Israeli counterpart Yaïr Lapid during the latter’s historic visit to Rabat in August, reports The Times of Israel.

Since the normalization of their diplomatic relations in December, Morocco and Israel have been working to strengthen their cooperation. On Sunday, the appointments committee of the Israeli Foreign Ministry appointed David Govrin, Israel’s ambassador to Morocco after transforming his liaison office into an embassy as announced during the visit of the Israeli Foreign Minister. His Moroccan counterpart Nasser Bourita is expected to visit Israel in October or early November to open the Moroccan embassy in Tel Aviv.
