Moroccan Opposition Party Urges End to Morocco-Israel Diplomatic Ties Amid Security Concerns

The Alliance of the Federation of the Left, formerly the Federation of Democratic Left (FGD), warns against the dangers of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Israel, particularly the new security agreements signed with Tel Aviv.
The Alliance of the Federation of the Left expresses deep concern about the new military agreements signed between Morocco and Israel during the visit of the Israeli Defense Minister, Benny Gantz, to Rabat. In a statement, the party denounces the normalization of diplomatic relations between the two countries, formalized on December 10, 2020, and calls for its cancellation as well as that of all subsequent military and security agreements concluded with the Hebrew state. According to the alliance, these agreements represent a dangerous precedent for the Arab region. Normalization "poses real dangers for the future of Morocco and the Maghreb region," the political party said.
During his visit to Rabat last November, the Israeli Defense Minister, Benny Gantz, and his Moroccan counterpart, Abdellatif Loudiyi, had signed agreements aimed at strengthening military cooperation between Morocco and Israel. It is planned that the two countries will collaborate in areas such as intelligence, the defense industry, training (joint exercises between the Royal Armed Forces and the IDF, the Israeli defense and security forces) and the sale of drones and weapons to Morocco.
