Israel Inks Deal to Sell Advanced Drones and Air Defense Systems to Morocco

During the historic visit of Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz to Morocco, several advanced military systems sales agreements were signed between the two countries.
According to the Israeli website, N12, "these include unmanned aerial vehicles and an advanced air defense system, and these are just some of the weapons that Israel will sell to Morocco". This operation was made possible thanks to the restoration of relations and the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries, the media emphasized.
During his stay in Moroccan territory, Benny Gantz participated in meetings with "representatives of the Rabat military administration" where IAI drones, Elta radars, missiles, Sky Lock systems to intercept and neutralize drones, as well as the modernization of the F5 aircraft fleet were discussed. In addition, it was decided to organize joint training between the Royal Armed Forces and the IDF.
One of the most important agreements is the one relating to the air defense system manufactured by the Israeli aerospace industry called "Lightning 8". The system is generally installed on aircraft, but also has a ground-based version of anti-aircraft systems, the same source explained.
Speaking on the occasion, Gantz said that "Israel is particularly concerned about Iranian aggression and its bellicose intentions. It is the duty of the world to act against Iran, which is not only a challenge for Israel, but above all a danger for the entire region and the world".
He added "we are working with our Moroccan friends, with the support of the United States, to strengthen our ties with other countries in the region, including Jordan, Egypt, the parties who signed the Abraham Accords as well as with our Palestinian neighbors".
Benny Gantz completed his visit on Thursday, satisfied with the progress in military cooperation between Morocco and his country. "The agreement we have signed will allow us to cooperate, with exercises, with information - it is an agreement that will allow us to support the Moroccans with everything they need, in accordance of course with our common interests. We have a strategic alliance of knowledge," said Zohar Palti, head of the political-military bureau of the Ministry of Defense.
