Israeli Envoy to Morocco Recalled Amid Gift Theft Investigation

The mission of the head of the Israel liaison office in Rabat, David Govrin, is the subject of an investigation into serious irregularities, including the disappearance of a gift offered by King Mohammed VI.

According to the daily Assabah, "the allegations of sexual abuse reported by Israeli media are unfounded, no evidence having been retained against David Govrin". However, this case would be the reason why Israel has recalled its ambassador.

As for the ongoing investigation, it essentially concerns "internal conflicts between the head of the Israeli diplomatic mission in Morocco and his collaborators, whom he accuses of theft". Among other things blamed on the head of the liaison office, there is the disappearance of a precious royal gift, his complicated relations with the security director of the Israeli diplomatic mission in Morocco, who is one of the collaborators who were imposed on him.

Diplomatic sources claim that the security officer of the liaison office often wrote compromising memos on David Govrin’s activities, his travels and his "dubious relationships". The reports highlight a set of dysfunctions made up of "contract awards without respect for the laws, the failures of his communication team, the scandals of his outings on social networks and his boozy nights in the capital", indicates the daily.
