Israel Recalls Ambassador to Morocco Amid Misconduct Allegations, PM Lapid Approves

Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid reacted to the recall of Israel’s ambassador to Rabat, David Govrin, accused of harassment, sexual exploitation and financial misconduct.
Prime Minister Yair Lapid spoke with Alon Ushpiz, director general of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and asked him what the Israeli diplomacy had done regarding the complaints received in recent months against the Israeli ambassador to Morocco, David Govrin, reports the Israeli radio Reshet Bet. He also told him that he approved the decision to keep the Israeli diplomat recalled until the investigation opened by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is completed.
David Govrin was recalled by Tel Aviv on September 6 after being accused of harassment, sexual exploitation and financial misconduct. The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent a team on site to conduct the investigation, including the ministry’s inspector general Hagay Behar. On Sunday, the Israeli diplomat claimed in an article published that the allegations of sexual harassment against him were fabricated by the senior security official of the liaison office Ran Metzuyanim, with whom he had clashes.
