Israeli Diplomat in Morocco Faces Recall Amid Misconduct Allegations

David Govrin, head of the Israeli liaison office in Rabat, has become a burden in the relations between the Hebrew state and Morocco. This is at least what the Moroccan authorities would have told their Israeli counterparts.
Will David Govrin return to his post? According to reliable sources, he will be informed of his fate within a week, reports Maghreb-Intelligence. On Tuesday, the head of the Israeli liaison office in Rabat was recalled to Tel Aviv for the purposes of an investigation conducted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs following the accusations of sexual harassment, nepotism and financial mismanagement made against him. "He may not return to Morocco given the serious accusations against him and Tel Aviv is trying to defuse this bomb as soon as possible," the same sources say. The Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hagai Bahar is currently in Rabat, where he is conducting a preliminary investigation into the case.
Israel, which is seeking to avoid a diplomatic incident with Morocco, could thank David Govrin. In January, the Israeli diplomat was under fire and was threatened with dismissal. He was notably accused of persisting in creating controversy, interfering in Morocco’s domestic politics through risky statements and adopting a deliberately vague approach on the national cause. Criticisms coming from the Moroccan authorities. They would have informed their Israeli counterparts of the actions of the head of the Israeli liaison office in Rabat.
