Israeli Diplomat in Morocco Faces Sexual Harassment and Misconduct Probe

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs has opened an internal investigation following suspicions of financial and administrative "irregularities" and sexual harassment within the Israeli liaison office in Rabat, led by David Govrin.
The Inspector General of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs has opened this internal investigation after the departure of four employees from the Israeli liaison office in Rabat, reports the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronot.
The latter would have been forced to leave "due to tensions with David Govrin", says the same source, referring to allegations of sexual harassment as well as financial and administrative irregularities. As part of this investigation, a commission led by Inspector Hagai Behar, number 3 in the Israeli diplomacy, was in Rabat last weekend, the same source reports.
The Israeli liaison office was opened in August 2021 in Rabat. The Moroccan liaison office in Tel Aviv is led by Abderrahim Beyyoud. The two countries normalized their diplomatic relations in December 2020, under the auspices of the United States, as part of the Abraham Accords.
