Protesters in Morocco Demand Closure of Israeli Office Amid Sexual Harassment Allegations

Islamist, pan-Arab and far-left activists demonstrated on Friday in front of the parliament headquarters in Rabat to denounce the alleged deviant behavior of the head of the Israeli liaison office in Morocco, suspected of sexual harassment of Moroccan employees.
These activists against normalization with Israel, who responded to the call to demonstrate by the National Action Group for Palestine, condemned the "hideous acts" of David Govrin and called for the closure of the Israeli liaison office in Rabat.
"This is a scandal that undermines the dignity of Moroccan women and national dignity," said Abdelkader Alami, president of the National Action Group for Palestine, to Hespress. The president of the Unity and Reform Movement (MUR), Abderrahim Chikhi, in turn called for the "immediate closure" of the Israeli office in Rabat and the severing of all diplomatic relations with this country.
As for Amine Abdelhamid, a left-wing activist and member of the Moroccan Front for Palestine and against normalization, he says he is protesting "against the hideous acts committed by the head of the Israeli liaison office in Morocco", adding that "the dignity of Morocco is not for sale, normalization must stop".
To recall, David Govrin, head of the Israeli liaison office in Rabat, was recalled by his country following suspicions of sexual harassment of Moroccan employees and other financial irregularities within the diplomatic representation. The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs has opened an investigation to clarify the matter.
