Ikea Expands in Morocco: $40 Million Store to Open in Tetouan by June 2022

The Ikea brand will open its second large store in Tetouan, within the Tanger Med Zones commercial area, by June 2022, for an investment of 400 million DH.
The future commercial space, the second of its kind built by Ikea in Morocco, is planned on an area of 16,100 m² and includes a 3,700 m² showroom, a 3,450 m² market hall and a restaurant with a terrace that can accommodate up to 250 people. There is also an outdoor area of 500 m² for year-round exhibition.
The opening of this large store in June 2022 is part of the group’s policy focused on brand development over the past five years, Ikea points out, while stressing that the project will create 500 direct jobs and 1,000 indirect jobs in the region.
Specializing in the design and retail sale of ready-to-assemble or kit furniture and home decor items, Ikea has opened a large store in Zenata, three Ikea pop-ups, as well as the new store format at the Morocco Mall in Casablanca and the e-commerce site.
The commercial area developed by Tanger Med Zone, which will house this store, is located on the road between Tetouan and Mdiq, near Cabo Negro. It will be developed on a first phase of 30 ha and will include commercial, catering and an Outlet project activities.
