Swedish Industrial Giant Trelleborg Invests $5 Million in New Morocco Factory

Morocco has once again conquered a renowned Swedish group. After the installation of the furniture giant Ikea in 2015 and that of the rising star of mid-range watchmaking Daniel Wellington, it is Trelleborg’s turn to establish itself in the kingdom.
Famous in the production of rubber and industrial polymers, the Swedish giant Trelleborg has just inaugurated a production unit in the Atlantic Free Zone, the industrial zone of Kénitra specially dedicated to the automotive and aeronautical industries, reports Challenge, stressing that the Trelleborg group has thus invested more than 50 million DH in Morocco, through Trelleborg Kénitra, with its subsidiary Automotive Boots. More than thirty employees have been hired.
The objective of this new division is to set up an offshoring of the manufacture of automotive safety systems in rubber (sealing, sealing solutions, etc.) in the country. Following supply partnerships concluded with Côte d’Ivoire, Morocco has been chosen as the first African country where the Trelleborg group has set up an industrial base, and the second in the MENA region after Turkey.
Created in 1904, the Trelleborg group has nearly 23,000 employees in fifty countries and generates a turnover of more than $4 billion, or more than 36 billion DH. In addition to Wheel Solutions, which is the Automotive Boots activity, the Trelleborg group also has two other Business Units, including Industrial Solutions and Sealing Solutions.
