IKEA Expands in Morocco: New $40 Million Store to Create 1,500 Jobs in Tetouan

IKEA has announced the opening in the coming weeks, of a new store, the second of its kind in Morocco, erected in Tetouan within the commercial zone of Fnideq.
Launched about a year ago, the construction of this new store required an investment of 400 million DH. Through this opening, the group intends to create 500 direct jobs and 1,000 indirect jobs in the region, sources close to the company told the newspaper l’Économiste.
With an area of 16,100 m², the store will have a showroom of 3,700 m², a market hall of 3,450 m² and the first restaurant with a terrace, able to accommodate up to 250 people. It will also offer an outdoor exhibition space in the form of a greenhouse on 500 m², for the exhibition of the outdoor furniture range throughout the year, it is specified.
In this sense, a pre-opening on an area of nearly 2,000 m² will be offered at the beginning before launching the store in its entirety, the same sources point out, adding that the chain has already started an online sale of its products.
