Hajduk Split’s Benrahou Commits to Morocco National Team After Years of Speculation

The attacking midfielder of Hajduk Split (Croatia), Yassine Benrahou, definitively abandons Algeria for Morocco, after long maintaining ambiguity about his sporting nationality.
Yassine Benrahou has decided to join the Atlas Lions. "It’s also one of my goals. I’ve had contacts in the past. I have to keep working, be performing and it will happen. I want to give myself every means to represent my country," said the Hajduk Split attacking midfielder in an interview with L’Équipe before the Croatian Super Cup this Saturday against Dinamo Zagreb. Former Atlas Lions coach Vahid Halilhodzic had called up the former U20 Atlas Lion in 2020, but the gathering had been canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Yassine was born on January 24, 1999 in Le Blanc-Mesnil to a Moroccan father and an Algerian mother. Trained at the INF Clairefontaine for two years, the nugget went through the Bordeaux youth teams, before making his debut with the Girondins on April 26, 2019. January 3, 2020 will mark a new stage in his football career. He is loaned to Nîmes Olympique for the end of the season, with a purchase option of 1.5 million euros. This year, he joined the Hajduk Split squad.
