Real Madrid’s Brahim Díaz Opts to Represent Morocco Over Spain in International Soccer

Brahim Díaz has finally changed his sporting nationality. The Real Madrid midfielder has decided to play for the Moroccan team, after long awaiting a call-up to the Spanish senior team.
According to the Spanish website Marca, citing sources close to the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Brahim Diaz has finally decided to join the Atlas Lions. The last administrative details are being settled to formalize this change of sporting nationality, it is specified.
Born in Malaga to Moroccan parents, the young player made his debut with the lower categories of Spain (U17, U19 and U21) and has been awaiting a call-up to the senior team for a long time. But Luis de la Fuente did not call him up for the matches against Georgia and Cyprus, nor for the upcoming matches against Scotland and Norway, scheduled for October 12 and 15 respectively.
Brahim Diaz’s choice to play for the Moroccan team will affect his club, Real Madrid, which will be deprived of its midfielder between mid-January and mid-February when the new Atlas Lion will be in Côte d’Ivoire to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations with Morocco.
