Real Madrid’s Brahim Diaz Weighs Morocco Switch Ahead of Africa Cup of Nations

Brahim Diaz could get tired of waiting for a call-up to the Spanish national team and finally accept to play for Morocco, who are preparing for the Africa Cup of Nations, which is scheduled to kick off in mid-January in Côte d’Ivoire.
Morocco has been trying for years to convince Brahim Diaz to join the Atlas Lions. But the Real Madrid striker is hesitant to take the decisive step, hoping for a call-up to the Spanish national team which, apparently, is slow in coming. Unlike Lamine Yamal, the native of Malaga has not been called up by Luis de la Fuente for the Euro 2024 qualifying matches against Georgia and Cyprus scheduled for this month, recalls Marca.
For its part, Morocco continues to insist with the player so that he accepts to join the Atlas Lions who are qualified for the final phase of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations which will take place from January 13 to February 11, 2024 in Côte d’Ivoire. After its epic at the last World Cup in Qatar where it reached the semi-finals, the Moroccan national team is one of the favorites for this edition of the CAN.
If Brahim Diaz accepts Morocco’s offer, he could already participate with the Moroccan team in the international matches scheduled for October and November, before participating in the CAN. The Real Madrid striker has already been an international with the lower categories of Spain, but he still has the possibility of playing for Morocco, if he decides to do so. A choice that could also affect his club, which would be deprived of its prodigy for more than a month (gathering and participation in the CAN).
