Real Madrid Blocks Brahim Díaz from Joining Morocco for Africa Cup of Nations

Real Madrid is doing everything it can to prevent the call-up of Brahim Diaz by Morocco to participate with the Atlas Lions in the Africa Cup of Nations to be held between January and February 2024 in Côte d’Ivoire.
"Brahim Díaz wants to participate with us in the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations, but he is facing obstacles from his club, Real Madrid," said Mohamed Makrouf, the official spokesman of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF). Moroccan coach Walid Regragui would consider calling him up for the next Africa Cup of Nations to be held from January 13 to February 11, 2024 in Côte d’Ivoire, reports Sport.es.
Born in Malaga to Moroccan parents, Brahim Diaz has played in the Spanish youth categories (U17, U19 and U21) and has been awaiting a call-up to the senior team for some time. But Luis de la Fuente is slow to call him up, which could lead the Madrid striker to choose to play for Morocco.
If Brahim Diaz accepts the Moroccan offer, Carlo Ancelotti would find himself without his striker during this period when Real Madrid will have to play many Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League round of 16 matches.
Back at Real Madrid after a two-year loan to Milan, Brahim Diaz is still not in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans, despite the departures of Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio and even in the absence of the injured Vinicius. In eight games, the player of Moroccan origin has only played 116 minutes and his situation may not change by the end of the season.
