Nice Midfielder Sofiane Diop Reportedly Chooses Senegal for International Career

With no real possibility of joining the senior French team led by Didier Deschamps, the Franco-Senegalese-Moroccan offensive midfielder Sofiane Diop, who plays for OGC Nice, would have chosen his sports nationality.
Sofiane Diop would have decided to defend the colors of Senegal, the country of his father, reports the specialized account Joueurs sénégalais. If this information is confirmed, the 23-year-old offensive midfielder would join the den of the Lions of Teranga and appear on the list of coach Aliou Cissé. Senegal will face Rwanda on September 9 and 12 as part of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, then cross swords with Algeria in a friendly match at the Abdoulaye Wade stadium.
A few months earlier, the Franco-Senegalese-Moroccan had been cautious about his sports nationality. "My father is Senegalese, my mother is Moroccan and I was born in France. These are not the best conditions to make a choice, when we talk about the world champion, the semi-finalist of this World Cup and the African champion. We are not immune to making different selections with my brothers. It would be a lie to say that there have been no discussions between the federations and my parents, but I don’t want to pollute my mind," he had said to Nice-matin.
And he added: "I want to ignore that and stay focused on my club. My goal is to make the Under-21 Euro with France at the end of the season. I will make my decision afterwards."
