Algeria Drops Pursuit of Moroccan Soccer Star Amine El Ouazzani

In recent days, the Algerian press, which had mentioned a probable change of sports nationality of the Moroccan international Amine El Ouazzani, also of Algerian origin through his mother, is backtracking, assuring that the young player does not interest Algeria.
Clearly, the attempts by the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) to convince El Ouazzani to join the Fennecs have not been successful. In recent days, Algerian media have claimed that the Moroccan international "does not interest Algeria". However, a few months ago, the country’s media reported that the FAF had contacted Amine El Ouazzani to try to convince him to change his sports nationality.
With a Moroccan father and an Algerian mother, the 22-year-old player playing for EA Guingamp in the French second division has the possibility of playing for either of the two countries. But he is already a Moroccan international, having played and won the U23 Africa Cup of Nations with the Atlas Lions, recalls H24 Info.
Algeria’s sudden interest in the Moroccan international appeared after the interview he gave in April in which he declared his love for Morocco and Algeria. "I grew up with the love of Morocco through my father, but I am also Algerian through my mother, and many do not know that. I am both and I have an equally important attachment to Algeria because the family I grew up with was my mother’s family who lived with me in Grenoble," the young player had said.
Amine El Ouazzani is one of the best talents in the French Ligue 2. In the 11 matches played this season, the Atlas Lion has already scored 6 goals and provided 4 assists.
