Moroccan Midfielder El Ouazzani Rejects Algeria’s National Team Offer Again

Moroccan international Amine El Ouazzani has, once again, declined the offer of the Algerian Football Federation to join the Fennecs.
Amine El Ouazzani was not called up by Walid Regragui for the two matches against the Central African Republic, scheduled for October 12 and 15 as part of the third and fourth rounds of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) qualifiers in Morocco. Walid Sadi, president of the Algerian Football Federation (FAF), having noted the absence of the 23-year-old player’s name from Regragui’s list, seized the opportunity to come back to the charge and try to convince El Ouazzani to join the Algerian national team.
But the Sporting Braga striker has rejected his proposal, assuring that he prefers to remain a Moroccan international. Born in Grenoble to a Moroccan father and an Algerian mother, El Ouazzani has chosen to defend the colors of Morocco, despite the insistence of the Algerian federation. The Atlas Lion won the U23 Africa Cup of Nations with Morocco and participated in the Paris Olympics with the Moroccan team, which finished third in the tournament, winning the bronze medal, the first in its history.
