From the cliffs of Cape Malabata, future guests will be able to gaze at the Spanish coast across the Strait of Gibraltar. Four Seasons has chosen the site for its fourth property in Morocco. The Canadian group officially announced the project on Thursday, October 8, in partnership with Royal Resort Cap Malabata, a real estate company backed by Bahrain’s GFH financial group.

The future resort will have 99 accommodations, including 27 detached villas. The buildings will be set into the cliffside on a site with more than 260 metres of ocean frontage. Architecture has been entrusted to Arjitec, while interior design will be handled by Goddard Littlefair.

Four restaurants, a spa, a fitness centre and several swimming pools will complete the resort. Indoor and outdoor spaces will also host receptions and private events, while a programme of activities will be offered to children.

The group is banking on Cape Malabata’s location, about fifteen minutes from Tangier’s high-speed train station and forty-five minutes from Ibn Battouta Airport. The project is expected to strengthen the supply of high-end hotels in a city that already attracts several major international brands.

“Our aim is to design a resort that reflects Tangier,” said Ricardo Suarez, Four Seasons’ development director, in the group’s official statement.

The property will join Four Seasons’ three Moroccan locations in Marrakech, Casablanca and Rabat. Tangier is thereby strengthening its position in the luxury tourism market, where some of the city’s properties already stand out internationally.
