Eight Arrested in Fez for Alleged Kidnapping and Ransom Scheme
Eight individuals were arrested on Tuesday by the Fez police elements. They would be involved in a case of kidnapping and ransom demand.
The complaint for kidnapping was filed by a woman who claims to have received a telephone call notifying her of the kidnapping of her husband and the payment of a ransom. Based on the information provided by the complainant, the police opened an investigation, the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN) said in a statement.
The searches and investigations led on Tuesday to the arrest of the suspects in flagrante delicto of receiving the requested ransom before the release of the kidnapped man. The latter was found not far from Outa Bouaâbbane, near the town of Taounate, the DGSN added.
Aged 28 to 47, the eight individuals were placed in custody pending the investigation opened by the police elements. But according to the first elements received, the victim would have defrauded some of the arrested persons. He is the subject of an investigation conducted by the judicial police in order to determine the gray areas in this case of fraud.
