Moroccan Police Officers Arrested in Visa Fraud Scheme

Two police officers were arrested by the National Brigade of the Judicial Police (BNPJ) of Oujda for their involvement in a case of falsification of foreign visas, corruption and disclosure of professional secrets.
According to the initial elements of the investigation, an officer and a police lieutenant, working in the Saïdia area, are the suspects arrested. They were passing on information and facilitating the task of members of a criminal network specialized in the falsification of files for the obtainment of foreign visas, indicates a press release from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
The network was under police surveillance but each time an operation was set up to dismantle it, they were one step ahead thanks to the two incriminated police officers whose mission was to alert them in exchange for a bribe. After their arrest, the police officers were investigated, which revealed all the criminal acts they are accused of. They also allowed the arrest of all the members of the network.
All the suspects in this case were brought before the court on February 14. They are being prosecuted for corruption and disclosure of professional secrets as far as the two police officers are concerned. As for the members of the network, they are accused of falsifying foreign visas and corruption. In addition to the prison sentences that the police officers risk, they will also face disciplinary sanctions.
