Drama in Morocco: a homeless man and his two dogs killed by lightning in Chtouka Aït Baha
A man died this Thursday morning in the province of Chtouka Aït Baha, after being fatally struck by lightning. The incident, which occurred in the context of severe weather in the region, also caused the death of the two dogs that accompanied him.
According to local sources, the victim was a homeless man. He was in the habit of spending his nights under a tree at the entrance of Inchaden, where the tragedy occurred. The violence of the electric discharge caused his immediate death as well as that of the animals.
As soon as they were informed, the local authority and elements of the Royal Gendarmerie went to the scene to draw up a report. An investigation has been opened under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office. The victim’s body was transferred to the morgue for the purposes of the procedure.
This tragedy occurred while the Souss region was on alert. The National Meteorology Directorate had issued an orange-level bulletin for severe disturbances from Wednesday, November 12 to Thursday, November 13. The alert predicted wind gusts of up to 90 km/h in several provinces of the Kingdom.
