Casablanca Unveils High-Capacity Mercedes Busway Fleet in $23 Million Transit Upgrade

The city of Casablanca is equipping itself with a new generation of busway fleet, the model of which was officially unveiled on Thursday by the city authorities.
These are about forty Mercedes "Citaro L" busways that will soon be put into service for a total investment of 230 million dirhams, the officials said. 21 meters long, 2.55 meters wide, 3.12 meters high, these new buses have 4 double access doors, and have a capacity on board of 168 passengers including 58 seats.
The new Busways will be air-conditioned and equipped with security cameras, USB chargers and dynamic information screens. They will also be equipped with velvet-covered seats, wheelchair access and a dedicated space for people with reduced mobility.
According to the authorities, the Casabusway will serve its 42 stations along a dedicated corridor and will be connected to Casatramway. The stations of the Casabusway lines will be similar to those of Casatramway, namely:
Bw1 Line Bvds Al Laymoun, Al Qods, Mohammed VI, Moqdad Lahrizi and Al Joulane.
Casabusway BW2 line: Errahma district, Route Provinciale 3003/3014 - Bvds Moulay Touhami, Oum Rabie, Abdellah Charif, Yaacoub El Mansour, Oulmès roundabout.
