Morocco Bolsters Military Arsenal with Tanks, Missiles, and Drone Ammunition

In 2021, Morocco received a total of 1,000 launchers and anti-tank missiles, T-72M combat tanks and ammunition for its Bayraktar TB2 drones, according to the United Nations Register on Conventional Arms (UNROCA).

Morocco has strengthened its army with military equipment last year. The kingdom received Skif missiles that it had ordered in 2019 and even received specimens for field testing and experimentation, a KTK-M firing and control simulator, a 215T launcher, three RK-2IS and two RK-2S missiles, reports Defensa. The Skif rocket has a range of 5,500 meters during the day and 3,000 meters at night.

In addition to these Ukrainian missiles, of which Morocco ordered 1,000 units according to the UN report, there are the 14 T-72M combat tanks acquired from the Czech Republic to strengthen the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces, which use T72B/BK tanks. Also, 100 tanks bought in Belarus in the late 1990s have been upgraded and now have a new armor system and a vision system that allows them to carry out day and night combat operations.

Morocco has also acquired 50 munitions for its some 25 Turkish Bayraktar TB2 drones, which were put into service in 2021. They are equipped with MAM-C and MAM-L bombs, with a range of up to 15 km and offering high accuracy and efficiency in attacks against fixed and mobile targets.
