Morocco Expands Military Drone Fleet with New Turkish Bayraktar TB2 Order

Morocco has just placed a new order for six Turkish Bayraktar TB2 drones, after an initial order of 13 drones last April.
Morocco is betting on these Bayraktar TB2 combat drones (armed drone, medium altitude, long endurance) to strengthen surveillance and security along its borders, according to Africa Intelligence. Rabat had launched an initial order of 13 of these Turkish drones "as part of the modernization of the FAR arsenal in order to prepare to face any danger and recent hostilities," the Far-Maroc forum had said, later specifying that a first delivery of these devices was made in September.

The Royal Armed Forces have several types of drones used for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR). According to some local media, there are Israeli drones like the Heron 1, as well as American drones such as the Harfang and Predator XP from General Atomics.
Morocco has released $70 million, according to the local press, for these acquisitions of Turkish drones. In recent weeks, many Moroccan soldiers have benefited from a training program in Turkey.
