Casablanca Expands Busway Network with 2.5-Kilometer Extension

Casa Transport has announced a 2.5-kilometer extension of the city’s busway lines, the second of which is scheduled for this year.
Thus, a call for tenders has been launched for the extension of this line from its initial terminus, near the Errahma cemetery. The total amount of the project is estimated at more than 70 million dirhams, reports Al Ahdath Al Maghribia.
According to the SDL, the line concerned by this contract should be 12 kilometers long and serve 22 stations. It will connect the Errahma district to the Gandhi Boulevard, passing through the provincial road 3014 and the Yacoub El Mansour Boulevard.
Unlike the first two lines, the new one will have a connection point with a tramway station, thus allowing an interconnection between the busway network and the tram network, the newspaper points out.
For the record, the first two busway lines in Casablanca should be put into service by the end of this year, while two other lines should be added to the network before the end of 2023.
As for the first line, adds the daily, it will connect the Salmia district to that of Lissasfa, covering the Laimoun, Al Qods boulevards or the Mohammed VI avenue. In total, it should extend over more than 12.5 kilometers and have about twenty stations.
