Casablanca Expands Public Transit: Major Progress on New Tramway and Busway Lines

The projects to build new tramway and busway lines in Casablanca have progressed gradually in 2021. This year, the bulk of the work will be devoted to the rail platform.
Reviewing its activities in 2021, Casa Transport said that the construction of the infrastructure for the third and fourth tramway lines in Casablanca is progressing rapidly, specifying that the work to divert the identified underground networks has been completed, and those of the second phase corresponding to the realization of the rail platform are in the process of being completed on several sections.
The third phase concerns the facade-to-facade developments. It involves the renovation of the roads, the rehabilitation of the sidewalks, the installation of new urban facilities, the renovation of the underground stormwater drainage networks, etc.
The work is progressing gradually in the parts where the realization of the rail platform is completed. They are also carried out by section, alternately on each bank, in order to keep the traffic open on the occupied bank. This phase constitutes the last stage generating the greatest impact on traffic, it is pointed out.
