Agadir Region Plans Dry Port to Boost Industrial and Export Growth

The Agadir region will soon host a dry port. The project, still under study, aims to support industrialists, importers and exporters in the Souss Massa Region.

The infrastructure will be built within the industrial acceleration zone of the commune of Drarga, less than 5 minutes from the industrial zones of Tassila-Agadir, Tassila-Dcheira, Ait Melloul and the future industrial and logistics zone of Leqliaa and a few minutes from the port of Agadir, reports Challenge, specifying that the work is part of the industrial acceleration plan of the region.

For the realization of this project, the Souss Massa Regional Council made a visit to Tanger Med from January 15 to 17. This trip led by its president Karim Achengli aims to make an assessment of dry ports in order to draw inspiration from Tanger Med and get the best out of it for the construction of the one in Agadir.

Ultimately, the infrastructure will "provide a more efficient and competitive service, in a context of dynamic reconfiguration of international logistics corridors," said Bachir Ahechmoud, first vice-president of the Souss-Massa Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services (CCIS-SM), a member of the delegation.

He added that "the two parties agreed to continue the meetings to finalize the protocols of agreements and awareness-raising meetings for the future users of this dry port."
