Agadir Mayor Inspects Progress on $8 Million Tourist Zone Upgrade

On the sidelines of the commemoration of the 62nd anniversary of the reconstruction of the city, Aziz Akhannouch, president of the urban municipality of Agadir, went to check the progress of the work on the tourist and seaside area.
On this occasion, Aziz Akhannouch was given a presentation on the progress of the work to upgrade the tourist and seaside area of Agadir, a project included in the 2020 — 2024 Urban Development Program, reports Aujourd’hui le Maroc. It appears that 78 million dirhams in funding has been released for the upgrading of the Bird Valley. The work will last a total of 30 months.
The construction of the Al Moggar/Agoran Square parking lot located on Boulevard Mohammed V and the creation of other underground parking lots, thus decongesting and streamlining traffic in the city, are two major projects included in the 2020-2024 Agadir PDU. Other projects: the construction of the underground Bijaouan Belvédère parking lot to solve the mobility problem, the relocation of the current municipal pool and its annexes, the redevelopment of the Soleil and Lahouar squares which will become a place for sports activities and children’s games, as well as the transformation of the former Bank Al — Maghrib headquarters in Agadir into a museum of the reconstruction and memory of the city.
The 2020-2024 Agadir PDU has also implemented a reuse program for an initial tranche of 150 million dirhams in funding. The implementation rate is 68%.
