Agadir Breaks Ground on $25 Million Grand Theatre Project, Set to Open in 2026

It’s a go for 30 months to build the Grand Theatre of Agadir. The work was launched on Saturday by Mehdi Bensaid, Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, in the presence of local authorities including the President of the Agadir Municipal Council, Aziz Akhannouch.
The Grand Theatre of Agadir construction project, which is part of the Agadir Urban Development Program (PDU) for the 2020-2024 period, mobilizes an investment of around 250 million DH.
Designed to enrich the national cultural heritage, this infrastructure will be built on an area of 11,600 square meters and is scheduled to be delivered within 30 months after the start of construction work. "The future theater will have 1,060 seats and will allow the local population to have access to cultural and artistic entertainment facilities, with all that this entails in terms of developing intellectual potential and creative capacities," said Minister Bensaid during the launch of the work, stressing that the building will include performance and theater halls as well as an artists’ village and logistical and reception spaces.
