Zakaria Aboukhlal back with the Moroccan team

The coach of the Moroccan national team, Walid Regragui, has decided to trust Zakaria Aboukhlal for the upcoming matches of the Atlas Lions.

The Toulouse striker, absent from the field since the 2022 World Cup due to injuries and a drop in form, is returning to the den thanks to his recent performances in Ligue 1. Author of a brace during Toulouse’s victory over Montpellier, Aboukhlal seems to have regained his form and could bring a breath of fresh air to the Moroccan attack.

Another good news for the supporters of the Atlas Lions: the return of Salaheddine Chihab. The goalkeeper of Maghreb de Fès, author of remarkable performances in the championship, notably a decisive save on a penalty against Difaâ Hassani d’El Jadida, joins the group as the third goalkeeper, behind Yassine Bounou and Munir El Mohamedi.

The final list of selected players will be unveiled by Walid Regragui in the second week of November. The Atlas Lions will then gather at the Mohammed VI football complex in Maamora for a preparation camp before flying to Libreville.

On the program: a perilous trip to Gabon on November 15 for the fifth round of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, followed by a match against Lesotho on November 18 in Oujda.

It should be recalled that Morocco is leading group B with 12 points, ahead of Gabon (7 points), the Central African Republic (3 points) and Lesotho (1 point).
