Young Moroccan Man Found Dead on Spanish Beach, Investigation Underway

A young man of Moroccan origin was found dead on Saturday in L’Ametlla de Mar in Tarragona. The Mossos d’Esquadra have opened an investigation to determine the circumstances of the death.
According to witnesses, the victim, a 26-year-old Moroccan, arrived on Saturday in a car on the Cal lo Ribellet beach around 10 p.m. The young man then got out of the vehicle and headed towards the sea. Not seeing his return, the witnesses alerted the emergency services at 10:35 p.m., reports Diari de Tarragona.
Local police patrols from L’Ametlla de Mar and the Mossos d’Esquadra, as well as a fire brigade team, quickly went to the scene, discovering the lifeless body of the young man on the beach. The SAMU staff tried to resuscitate him, without success.
Of Moroccan origin, the victim resided in Barberà del Vallès. The police from the Tortosa police station have opened an investigation to determine the causes and circumstances of his death. The Moroccan is the eleventh person to have died this summer on the beaches of Tarragona.
