Missing Moroccan Student Found Dead in Brest Port, Investigation Ongoing

The 20-year-old student, Sami El Yousfi Alaoui, who had been missing since September 3 in Brest, was found dead on Wednesday, September 6.
His body was discovered around 4 p.m. in a basin near the fish market in the commercial port of the city. The divers, who were conducting new searches, quickly identified the victim thanks to a passport found in his clothes.
Since Tuesday, September 5, Sami’s family and friends had undertaken an unprecedented mobilization to find him, posting posters in the city center and responding to a call for witnesses launched by the police. The student, of Moroccan origin and enrolled at the National School of Engineers of Brest (Enib), had spent his last evening in the nightclub La Suite, in the company of Erasmus program friends.
Investigators are continuing their investigations to establish the exact circumstances of this tragedy. An autopsy is planned to determine the causes of the young Moroccan’s death. He had told his friends that he was going to the toilet during the evening and had not been seen since. His mobile phone had already been found and returned to the nightclub staff.
